Hastings District Libraries members can borrow from a large collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks in our eLibrary. This is a totally free service, with no hold or overdue charges.

Skip to our Libby quick start guide

An eBook is an electronic version of a printed book that is downloaded to your computer, tablet or smart phone. It may be transferred to a portable reading device like a Kobo or Sony eReader.

An eAudiobook is an electronic version of a ‘talking book’. It is downloaded to your computer, tablet or smartphone and may be transferred to a portable listening device like an MP3 Player.

To access online content you need to login with your Library card number and PIN. If you are unsure of your PIN, phone us on 8715000 with your Library card ready and we will set one up.

Overdrive's Libby app allows you to download ebooks directly onto your phone or tablet. For Wheelers use ePlatform App. Ulverscroft Digital requires the ULibrary App.

  • Go to your App store to download the App and follow the set up prompts to log in by entering your library card number and pin.
  • Browse or search and choose an item, clicking on it to borrow and download to your device.
  • You can also search the HDL Catalogue and download by clicking on the link from the item record. It will download to your account and can then be opened in the App on your device.
  • Listen or read on your smartphone or tablet. The item will automatically return once the loan period is finished.
  • To transfer eBooks to an eReader, such as a Kobo, follow these Overdrive instructions.
